Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month!

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness month! Millions of teens every year are subject to violence from an intimate partner. To help raise awareness, June N Jenkins will be out in the community to educate our children of the dangers and how to get help if they find themselves in a violent romantic relationship!

If you would like us to speak with your class or youth group, please contact us at (337)462-1452 to schedule a presentation. Remember: It is everyone's responsibility to end the cycle of violence!

Here are some important facts about Teen Dating Violence:

As many as 1 in 11 females and 1 in 15 males experience physical dating abuse before age 18.

Violent behavior often begins between 6th and 12th grade. 72% of 13 and 14-year-olds are “dating.”

Experiencing dating violence while a victim is young often leads to dependency on drugs and alcohol, and can also lead to the victim having thoughts of suicide (about 50%) or violence.

33% of teenagers will be subject to dating violence in some form.
